Associate Degrees in funeral service. The schools are industry leaders, and more than a third of all funeral service students graduate from one of the Pierce Mortuary Colleges.
Facilities on all three campuses of Pierce Mortuary Colleges are modern and up-to-date. Talented, experienced faculty as well as computer labs, textbooks and teaching aids all prepare Pierce students for a career in the funeral service industry. Pierce students take a variety of courses in mortuary science as well as courses in U.S. history, English literature and psychology and chemistry. The Pierce Mortuary Colleges has a long tradition of providing the best in
funeral service education. Dallas Institute of Funeral Service, for example, has been continuously operating under the same general management longer than any other funeral service educational institution in the
United States. Today, its modern facilities are located on an eight-acre campus in Dallas. Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service, which is located on more than three acres in a suburb of Atlanta, and Mid-America College of Funeral Service (located in the Louisville, Kentucky, metro area) have equally impressive legacies. All three colleges prepare students for state or national board exams that eventually lead to licensure.
Pierce Mortuary Colleges maintain a placement service that helps current students and graduates find jobs. The majority of Pierce graduates are successful in obtaining employment after graduation. Alumni reunions and other activities help foster a sense of community and provide networking opportunities. Financial aid is available to qualified students. The different Pierce campuses also offer clubs, fraternal societies, trade activities, leadership opportunities, and counseling and guidance to students. Gupton-Jones college offers special assistance for mature and non-traditional students to help them adjust to college life.
