Pikeville college is a four-year liberal arts institution offering a comprehensive array of academic programs. Pikeville College was founded in 1889 and offers associate and Baccalaureate programs as well as a professional program. Some of the undergraduate programs of study include political science, art, biology, criminal justice and others.

Some include the Pikeville Concert Choir, The Outdoor Adventure Club, the Social Science Club, the Psychology Club and many others.

Pikeville, located in Pike County is nestled within the mountains and has been rated among the "top 100 best small towns in America in the publication The 100 Best Small Towns in America," by Norm Crampton. The town offers numerous recreational activities including festivals such as the Bluegrass Extravaganza, the old Time Music Festival and more. Also in the area, students can gain access to a variety of restaurants and shops.
