Located just about two hours from the greater Kansas City area, Pittsburg State University offers a big-town university
education with a small-town feel. The town of Pittsburg, Kansas has just 20,000 residents, many of them in some way connected to the college campus, making Pittsburg a truly "college town."
Pittsburg State University is renowned for it's College of Arts and Sciences, which boasts over 50 degree programs in that school, with minors offered in 14 departments, which allows students to further specialize in their area of study. Pittsburg State University also has three other schools: the College of
business, the College of Education and the College of
technology.
The College of
business offers over 5 undergraduate degree programs and an MBA program. The College of Education offers over 15 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The College of Technology currently offers a variety of 2 and 4-year degree programs in a variety of disciplines, including
automotive,
engineering, graphics and imaging technologies. In 2008, the Princeton Review named Pittsburg State University a Best College in the Midwestern Region.
Six residence halls provide students living on campus with connections to the university's computer network; cable television; mini-refrigerator; phone with voice mail; standard dorm furniture and meal plans.
Pittsburg State University is a member of the NCAA and offers a wide variety of sports programs and scholarships. Students flock to see the Pitt State Gorillas play men's baseball, football and golf, as well as men's and women's basketball, cross country, track and field and women's volleyball.
