3801 S Sheridan Rd.
Tulsa, OK 74145
Since
IT was founded in Tulsa in 1979, Platt College - Oklahoma has expanded to six campuses across the state and one in Texas. Initially, a single course of study was offered, but over the last several decades, Platt College has steadily expanded. Programs and degrees are now offered in a variety of health-related fields (including
nursing, medical assistant, dental assistant,
Pharmacy Technician and
massage therapy), as well as restaurant management,
Culinary Arts, pastry arts and information technology, among others.
Classrooms on all Platt College - Oklahoma campuses mirror that of the environments students will encounter once they begin their careers. Computers with current software are standard on all campuses. Dental students practice in classrooms that include dental chairs and x-ray machines, while medical and hospital labs feature EKG machines, microscopes, exam tables, venipuncture arms and a simulated operating room. Culinary arts students practice their craft in modern kitchens, a bakery and working restaurants. Students also enjoy low student-to-faculty ratios and individualized attention from their instructors. Most lab sessions have no more than 20 students, while lecture courses generally enroll no more than 60. In the surgery technologist program the student-to-teacher ratio in lab settings is just 12 to one.
Resources are available to help Platt students make the most of their educational experience. All students have access to the Platt College - Oklahoma libraries and the school's career services office, which helps students write effective resumes, develop strong interview skills and conduct successful job searches. In addition, a four-day professional development class teaches students how to make their job hunt effective and wow a potential employer in an interview setting. Assistance is also given in creating and typing cover letters and formatting resumes.
Platt College - Oklahoma offers financial aid to qualified students. Assistance may include Pell Grants and Stafford Loans, as well as scholarships for some students. Outside of the classroom, Platt College - Oklahoma students and staff are active and engaged in their communities, and it is not uncommon to find them organizing fundraisers or volunteering to help their favorite causes.
