The educational experience at Plaza Beauty School kicks off with 600 hours of supervised instruction in a classroom setting. Students use the knowledge they acquire in class to practice on mannequins. Eventually, they move on to the clinic floor, where they perform services for paying clients. The curriculum cover hairstyling and design, haircutting, permanent waving, hair relaxing, hair coloring and highlighting, pedicuring, skin care and makeup. Daily theory classes continue through the 1,500-hour course, and electives let students develop advanced skills in particular areas. Most students complete their education at Plaza Beauty School in between 12 and 22 months.

Flexible scheduling (both day and night classes are available) is an option for students that need to balance work and family responsibilities with their education. Financial aid (including Pell Grants, student loans and veterans assistance) is available to qualified students. Plaza Beauty School offers job placement services to students and graduates, and the school often receives recruitment requests from area salons. All graduates also receive two tuition vouchers (worth $1,000) from Pivot Point, which can be used toward continuing education courses at Pivot Point's Chicago headquarters.
