Pontificia Universidad CATólica de Puerto Rico is a Puerto Rico school whose history goes back to the mid-20th century when there were 193 students in a place that was originally called Santa Maria. Today, has a variety of different students from diverse backgrounds and studying different interests.

Pontificia Universidad Católica de Puerto Rico survived as an example of the Puerto Rican society, especially of the southern region, to tend to the increasing educational demand of young students. In the beginnings of its history, all of the forces of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Puerto Rico were focused on the arts, sciences, and the education of teachers. Later it continued developing into the School of Education with programs that grants Associate Degrees in education, bachelor's of science degrees in elementary education, and bachelor's of science degrees in secondary education.
