Port Townsend School of Massage

1071 Landes Court
Port Townsend, WA 98368

One of the premier massage schools in the Pacific Northwest, the Port Townsend school of massage (PTSM) has been training future massage therapists since 1996. The first classes were actually held in one instructor's home, but the Port Townsend School of Massage has steadily expanded over the last dozen years and now has its own up-to-date facility. Port Townsend School of Massage now boasts nearly 25 instructors and more than 400 graduates. Port Townsend's goal is to give students the real-world learning experiences they need to develop successful careers as massage therapy professionals while also giving back to their communities.

For students wishing to become licensed massage therapists, two courses of study are offered. The 650-hour weekday program can be completed in nine months. Port Townsend School of Massage also offers a 545-hour weekend program that can be completed in 14 months. In addition, the school offers continuing education and advanced certification programs for professionals and community members. Prospective students who are unsure whether a career in massage therapy is right for them can enroll in intro to Swedish massage, a four-hour course that covers Port Townsend School of Massage's philosophy, teaching style and coursework.

Classes are taught by full-time and guest faculty. Instructors at Port Townsend School of Massage have training in a variety of fields, which adds depth to their instruction, and all teachers have direct, practical experience in massage therapy. Information about natural healing and wellness is introduced throughout the course of study. Classes are small at PTSM so that students receive individualized attention from their teachers. Financial aid is available in the form of loans, payment plans, private grants and veterans benefits.

The Port Townsend area is a center for holistic healing educators and professionals. The town is located between the Olympic and Cascade mountain ranges on the tip of the Olympic peninsula. Outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking and mountain biking are popular in the area. The campus is not far from restaurants, stores, parks and beaches, and students at Port Townsend School of Massage are able to become part of an active community of healers and artisans during their time at the school.
