Do you want to attend a real-life school of rock? At Power Chord Academy (PCA), students can. Power Chord Academy trains young musicians in intensive week-long summer sessions at various sites across the country. The program prepares amateur musicians to succeed at the professional level.

Power Chord Academy is open to people between the ages of 12 and 18 who are dedicated musicians and serious about learning what it takes to make it in the music industry. Students are welcome no matter what instrument they play, including drums, bass, guitar, piano, electronics, brass, strings and woodwinds. Singers and DJs are also encouraged to attend. Students at Power Chord Academy are taught by professional musicians who have been members of major or independent label bands, professional audio engineers, music teachers or held other professional positions in the music industry. Staff members have signed to or worked with record labels such as Capitol, Sony, Epitaph, Sub Pop and Victory. Guest speakers at past sessions have included members of Devo, Motion City Soundtrack, ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of The Dead and Jawbreaker, as well as representatives from Atlantic Records, MTV, Alternative Press Magazine, Bloodshot Records and Indivision Management.

At Power Chord Academy, participants form bands with other students their own age who have similar musical interests and levels of experience. Bands get to record their own CD, make a music video and perform live for other students. Students also learn about on-stage performance techniques, how to write songs and participate in seminars. At the end of the session, each Power Chord Academy participant receives a studio recording CD of their band, music video DVD, concert video DVD, PCA's Teen Musician Handbook, private personal review and analysis, the option to submit their work to record labels and talent agents, PCA student contact list, PCA summer session T-shirt and a PCA diploma.

Current Power Chord Academy locations include: New York, San Diego, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, Seattle, Los Angeles, Dallas, Washington D.C., Denver, Miami and Minneapolis. No matter where students attend, all Power Chord Academy sessions take place at college or university campuses, and most students live in residence halls for the duration of the program (there is also a day student option).
