All courses at Pratt, (which was established more than 120 years ago) challenge students to think creatively and learn new skills that can improve them in both their personal and professional lives.
Pratt Institute's Center for Continuing and Professional Studies offers certificate programs in project management, audio
engineering and production, fine and decorative art appraisal, computer graphics,
photography and digital imaging. Pratt Institute's Center for Continuing and Professional Studies also offers summer credit intensives and study abroad programs for college students, and pre-college programs for
high school students. Licensed architects can also satisfy continuing education requirements at Pratt Institute, and some courses may even be completed
online through the school's distance learning program.
Courses at Pratt Institute's Center for Continuing and Professional Studies include basic drawing, intermediate drawing, basic layout and typography, elements of design and fine art photography, and introduction to screenplay writing and teleplays, among many others. Pratt is constantly updating its course listings, and some recently added classes including designing for museums and other cultural institutions, the artist's diary: digital photography and bookmaking, sacred singing, leather jewelry, Chinese drawing and painting, and architectural acoustic and noise control.
Pratt Institute's Center for Continuing and Professional Studies is located in a seven-story building in New York's lively Chelsea neighborhood. The 64,000-foot, Romanesque revival building features state-of-the-art classrooms and studio space. Students also have access to Pratt Institute's main campus in the Fort Greene neighborhood of Brooklyn. Twenty minutes from Manhattan, the 25-acre Brooklyn campus offers lectures, films, labs, and athletic and social activities.
