cosmetology at Pressley Beauty Academy takes about 1,500 hours to complete, while the program in nail technology requires 125 hours of training. Pressley's cosmetology curriculum covers hair shaping, perms, shampooing, coloring and many other topics in hair care and styling. Anatomy, make-up, hygiene, sanitation procedures and wig care are all also covered. Students in the nail technology program learn about nail structure and growth, manicures, pedicures, salon conduct, professional ethics, bacteriology and sterilization, nail disorders, and anatomy and physiology. Both the cosmetology and nail technology programs also include education in salesmanship and
business ethics, which helps prepare students for successful careers, such as individual business owners or salon managers. Theoretical and practical exams ensure that a Pressley student has mastered the skills necessary to become a successful cosmetologist or nail technician.
Classes at Pressley Beauty Academy begin four times a year, in February, April, July and September. Students can opt for either a full-time or part-time course schedule. Full-time cosmetology students attend all day, Monday through Friday. Part-time students are in class 20 hours per week.
