Rappahannock Community College

12745 College Drive
Glenns, VA 23149

As one of the 23 community colleges that make up the Virginia Community College System, Rappahannock Community College is the realization of Thomas Jefferson's dream that the state should possess a college system to accommodate citizens. With its status as a two-year institution of higher learning -- and nearly 4,000 students during the 2005-06 school year, alone -- Rappahannock Community College appears to be doing just that.

Since its 1970 founding, over 3,000 students have received their degrees from Rappahannock Community College. Students can study in such fields as business management, general engineering technology, bookkeeping/accounting, practical nursing, law enforcement, marine trades, heating ventilation air conditioning (HVAC), welding, and banking, with the ability to attain either an associate degree or certificate depending upon the program. This Virginia college also offers an Associate of Arts and Sciences degree program which prepares students for transfer to a traditional four-year college or university after they have completed two years at Rappahannock Community College.

It's not just college students who benefit from this Virginia college's programs. Thanks to this Rappahannock Community College's dual enrollment program, high school students can take college-level courses -- either at their school or on-campus -- and receive credit good towards a college degree.
