A two-year institution of higher learning, Rochester Community and
Technical College traces its history to 1915, when the school was originally founded as the University Department of Southern University. Although Rochester Community and Technical College only served 17 students at the time, it has since grown into comprehensive
community college with a student body of nearly 6,000.
This
Minnesota college has also expanded its academic and training offerings to include more than 1,000 courses in a variety of subjects and disciplines. From programs in accounting, dental hygiene,
engineering,
nursing, and criminal justice, to courses in music, surgical technology, carpentry, horticulture technology, and Web design and development, there's a plethora of options to match students' interests.
In addition to traditional certificate programs, Rochester Community and Technical College also offers diploma programs, and the following associate degrees: Associate of Arts, Associate in Science, Associate in Applied Science, and Associate in Fine Arts. Students who enroll in, and successfully complete, the Associate of Arts or the Associate in Science degree program will be able to transfer to a traditional four-year college or university in order to pursue a bachelor's degree.
