Rogue Valley Phlebotomy School

P.O. Box 189

For three decades, the Rogue Valley Phlebotomy School has been training students to obtain certification in phlebotomy technology. A phlebotomy technician is a member of a medical laboratory; their primary function is to collect blood samples from patients. A phlebotomy technician is often the patient's only contact with the medical laboratory.

At the Rogue Valley Phlebotomy school, classes are held over a nine-week period on Mondays and Tuesdays. When students complete Rogue Valley's course, they will receive a certificate of completion for phlebotomy. Upon completion of required assignments students will receive a certificate of Completion for Phlebotomy. To become nationally certified, graduates must work in the field for one year, at which point they are qualified to take the national exam. Part of Rogue Valley's curriculum is to prepare students for this examination.

Along with taking blood samples from patients, phlebotomists also draw blood for transfusions, donation and research. The phlebotomy technician helps collect and transport specimens to the medical laboratory, and is involved with patient data entry.
