The Royal Military College of Canada is an esteemed military college with move than 100 years of history educating some of Canada's best minds. RMC was founded in 1874 by an act of the Canadian Parliament as a school dedicated to providing a complete
military education, including training in general scientific and
engineering. Queen Victoria granted the college its "Royal" prefix two years later, in 1878. Royal Military College has been granting degrees in the arts, science, and engineering since 1959.
Today, RMC offers a wide-variety of undergraduate and graduate programs in military education as well as arts, science, and engineering, both on-site and
distance learning through the Division of Continuing Studies. On-campus students, still known as the famous "RMC Redcoats," form an
elite group of carefully selected cadets who are trained and educated for careers as commissioned officers in the Canadian Forces. Due to post-graduation commitments of military service, education is free to most students and they also receive a monthly salary.
The Division of Continuing Studies at RMC is grounded in the elements of the military profession and integrates in-service training and experience with special and standard university courses in both English and French. Courses at Royal Military College are offered at a number of bases across Canada or through distance learning for students in more isolated locations or constrained by other commitments. Part-time studies at Royal Military College of Canada can also be a lead-in to some full-time studies supported by the Division.
Whether studying on-campus or through distance learning, RMC graduates have a reputation of service and achievement throughout the world and have distinguished themselves in all aspects of Canadian military service, as well as a wide variety of civilian professions.
