Sacred Heart University is based in Fairfield, Connecticut, with satellite campuses in broader Connecticut, Luxembourg and Ireland. Grounded in the liberal arts and Catholic intellectual traditions, Sacred Heart University conducts over 40 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs. As New England's second largest Catholic university, Sacred Heart University has been singled out for many distinctions. U.S. News and World Report ranked the Connecticut university among the North's top-tier universities at the master's level. The Princeton Review named Sacred Heart University in its 2008 list of the best 366 colleges.

Four colleges make up Sacred Heart University: the college of arts and sciences, the John F. Welch business college, the college of education and health professions, and university college, which includes the part-time studies division. The student-to-faculty ratio is 12-to-1. Close to 80 percent of full-time faculty members possess terminal degrees in their fields. In addition to academic achievement, Sacred Heart University has a strong commitment to community service. Between its staff, faculty and students, the Connecticut university devotes over 12,000 individuals to more than 31,000 service hours. Beyond its satellite campuses, Sacred Heart University also offers diverse study abroad programs in Italy, Australia and Spain. The Connecticut university gives financial aid to nearly 90 percent of its full-time undergraduates.

Sacred Heart University's main campus in Fairfield spans 65 acres and is right next door to the city of Bridgeport. The Connecticut university boasts over 30 NCAA Division I athletic teams, in which almost 800 students are involved. The health and recreation center is home to four basketball courts and an arena with 2,100 seats.
