Saint Joseph's College, a private, Catholic institution open to students of every faith, is a predominately undergraduate school of the
liberal arts, located in Rensselaer, Indiana. SJC was founded in 1889 by the Missionaries of the Precious Blood, a Society of the Apostolic Life, which remains as this
Indiana college's spiritual sponsor. Saint Joseph's College pursues excellence in education through the combined efforts of intellect and faith. SJC is committed to inclusiveness and diversity.
Primarily an undergraduate organization, Saint Joseph's College confers a variety of bachelor of arts and bachelor of science degrees, as well as a bachelor of science in
nursing degree. SJC offers more than 70 majors and minors, in addition to pre-professional programs. Also, this
Indiana college has a unique and celebrated core program, which introduces valuable interdisciplinary courses into the curriculum. These required meetings, made up of common presentations and discussion sections, are distributed in a manner that enables students to spend all four years studying their majors while simultaneously receiving their general educations. SJC also confers a master of arts in music with a concentration in church music and liturgy, and a master of arts in pastoral liturgy and music.
Saint Joseph College's campus covers 180 acres in a park-like setting. It is home to more than 50 organizations and clubs. SJC also boasts close to 20 varsity teams that compete in the NCAA at the Division II level. The
Indiana college is a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference, and has achieved a number of conference championships. Additionally, Saint Joseph's College offers a host of intramural activities.
