business at Saint Mary's University is accredited by the Association for the Advancement of Collegiate Schools of
business--International and leads students towards successful careers in marketing, accounting, human resource management, consulting, banking and finance. The SMU Computing and Information Systems major is designed to provide students with a nuanced understanding of hardware, software, data, processes and users. Graduates move on to become chief information officers, programmers, system analysts, system designers and more.
Saint Mary's University offers credit-bearing courses at a number of off-campus sites throughout Halifax, Dartmouth, Bedford and Sackville. SMU classes may take place in offices, school buildings, libraries or community centers and allow the community greater access to higher education and university resources. Saint Mary's University's 12 varsity athletic teams have won 55 Atlantic University Sports Championships and seven Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) Championships. Students can also join club and intramural sports programs, including basketball, ultimate Frisbee and dance.

Education majors can become certified in teaching in both Nova Scotia and Maine while studying abroad at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Qualified applicants are guaranteed admission to the school and can complete student teaching requirements in Nova Scotia or beyond.
