Although it was originally dubbed the Salem County Technical Institute when it opened its doors in 1958, today it's known as Salem community college and stands as a comprehensive two-year institution of higher learning in the state of New Jersey. Whether students are eager to enter the working world or are interested in one day transferring to a traditional college or university, this New Jersey College offers the courses that can help get them there.

Like most community colleges, Salem Community College offers students a variety of career training and certificate programs that provide them with the education and skills necessary for beginning their career. The school also offers a series on associate degree programs, including the Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Associate in Fine Arts, and Associate in Applied Science degree programs. Depending upon which associate degree program a student enters, he or she may be eligible to transfer earned credits towards earning a bachelor's degree at a four-year institution.

Boasting an 11-acre campus in Carneys Point, the community college also runs the Salem Center. Located in Salem, this educational facility provides community members with career help, adult basic education courses, preparation for the GED, credit courses, and much more.
