The mission of Samford University Orlean Bullard Beeson School of education and Professional Studies is to develop and challenge its students, faculty, and staff academically, professionally, personally, and spiritually in a Christian learning environment that promotes leaders who will impact and shape the world in a positive manner. The School of Education promotes the values of professionalism and education through respect, faith, honesty, collegiality, scholarship, distinctiveness, service and learning.

The Orlean Bullard Beeson School of Education and Professional Studies offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in teacher education, exercise science and sports medicine, interior design, family studies, legal studies, and metro programs. The undergraduate teaching education program includes early childhood/special education/elementary collaborative and secondary education. The graduate program includes educational leadership, early/elementary education, and gifted education programs. Exercise science and sports medicine majors are athletic training, exercise science (pre-physical therapy), fitness and health promotion, nutrition and dietetics, physical education, sports medicine (pre-med), and a double major in physical education/athletic training. The department of family studies offers a bachelor of arts in family studies as well as a concentration in child development education, a bachelor of general studies with a concentration in counseling foundations. Those interested in pursuing a master of science degree in education with class A certification for preschool through sixth grade offers a fifth-year nontraditional graduate program in early childhood and elementary education.

The family studies department has a legal assistant certificate program that is the oldest legal studies program in Alabama and it was the first program to be approved by American Bar Association. Students who hold an associate or bachelor's degree can take the ten legal studies courses to earn the certificate. Those without an associate or bachelor's degree can pursue a legal assistant certificate/administration/community services concentration in the metro programs. The metro program consists of adult evening undergraduate programs and Samford after Sundown personal and professional development courses.
