City College is a two-year urban college offering 1,500 day, evening, weekend and online classes to more than 14,000 students each year. The school currently offers associate and vocational programs of study to students from across the globe. Students looking to make San Diego City a step in their educational journey are in luck. San Diego City College offers Associate in Art and Associate in Science degree programs in areas ranging from fine arts to chemistry. The school has a high transfer success rate and a history of transferring students to Stanford, UC Berkeley,
University of California San Diego, California State Dominguez, and
San Diego State University.
Students are welcome to supplement their academic education with real world experience. Last year 128 graduates took advantage of the school's occupational apprenticeship program. After classes are over, San Diego City
community college becomes a hub of social activity. The school sponsors cultural events and artistic performances every year as well as provides a place for student artists, writers, actors, and musicians to strut their stuff. The San Diego City College campus is home to twelve sports teams and a full-scale fitness and wellness center.
To help ease students into the collegiate life, all full-time students are invited to enroll in the First Year Experience program. Providing college success skills workshops, specialized first-year courses, early registration benefits, peer mentoring, and social events, San Diego City College's FYE program makes the leap from
high school to college seamless. Other support programs available on campus include academic advising, tutoring, personal counseling, disability support services, transfer assistance, job search help, and financial aid counseling. San Diego City College's career center offers internship placement services, career assessment testing, interview preparation workshops, and resume writing classes. The school also provides child care services and additional support networks for low-income, first-generation, and physically disabled college students.
