Founded more than a half century ago, San Juan College in Farmington, New Mexico, was originally just a regional branch of a state college devoted to agriculture and mechanical arts. Since then, however, the school has grown into a comprehensive two-year institution of higher learning that offers a variety of disciplines and program levels.
Although its first courses were taught in the comforts of a local high school, San Juan College has expanded to its own campus. Now boasting 10 facilities on its campus grounds -- including the Computer Science Technology Building and the Early Childhood Development Center -- as well as three off-campus education centers, this
California Community College has grown to encompass more than 575,000 square feet.
A large campus and specialized facilities isn't all San Juan College has to offer students. In fact, this California boasts more than 70 different degree and certificate programs. From courses in computer science,
automotive technology,
Cosmetology, physical therapy assisting, dental hygiene, and
nursing, to classes in health information technology, theatre, physics,
engineering, geology, and pre-medical sciences, there's a program to match most anyone's interests at San Juan College.

When this California community college first opened its doors, only 25 students were in attendance. Today more than 5,500 credit students are enrolled each semester.
San Juan College conducts study abroad programs in Tanzania, Japan, and Mexico.
Students of this California community college participate in such clubs and organizations as the American Indian Science and Engineering Society, Physical Therapy Club, Rock Climbing Club, Students Nurses Association, Outdoor Adventure Club, and United Tribes Club.
