Located on a 41-acre campus in the city of Yonkers, bordering the village of Bronxville and just a 30-minute train ride from Midtown Manhattan, Sarah Lawrence college enrolls over 1,300 students each year from all 50 states and more than 30 countries.

Founded 75 years ago as a women's-only college, Sarah Lawrence College started accepting men in the 1960s. A liberal arts focused college, Sarah Lawrence College opened in the middle of the Great Depression and has thrived.

Sarah Lawrence College offers over 40 undergraduate degree programs at four schools: History and the Social Sciences, humanities, Natural Sciences and Mathematics and Creative and Performing Arts. Sarah Lawrence College also offers graduate programs in art of teaching, child development, dance, health advocacy, human genetics, theater, women's history and writing.

Over 90 percent of Sarah Lawrence College students live on campus. This might be attributed to the unique situation of on campus life at Sarah Lawrence College, which consists of a mixture of apartment buildings with community members as tenants, former private homes, dorms, townhouses and president housing. Students may choose from a variety of styles of living. All dorms are equipped with voice mail and hook up into the college's intranet system.

Students may also choose to study abroad in one of Sarah Lawrence College's international programs in Paris, London, Oxford, Florence or Havana, Cuba. They may also choose to attend other schools throughout the country that participate in the exchange program.
