Founded more than 20 years ago, the School of Shiatsu and Massage delivers educational and professional programs in
Healing Arts and
bodywork. Since its establishment, the school has been at the forefront for training bodyworkers in the areas of land and aquatics, and offers the most extensive selection of aquatic courses worldwide. The aquatic and mainland modalities are all state approved.
School of Shiatsu and Massage offers
certificate programs, massage practice 50-hour intensives, aquatic bodywork 50-hour intensives, and 16-hour classes. The
certificate programs include bodywork practitioner, advanced bodywork practitioner, bodywork therapist, advanced bodywork therapist, watsu provider, watsu therapist, waterdance practitioner, aquatic bodyworker, healing dance practitioner, and healing dance therapist.
The massage practice and aquatic bodywork 50-hour intensives include advanced
Therapeutic Massage, anatomy, bones and muscles, anatomy and body systems, deep tissue, energy active craniosacral, lomi-lomi massage, lymphatic massage, positional release, reflexology, Shiatsu, sports massage, Thai massage, therapeutic massage, trigger point therapy, yogassage, healing dance, presence of being, water breath dancing, waterdance, and watsu. The 16.67-hour weekend courses include core awareness training, essential
business skills, hot stone massage, pathology for bodyworkers, Shiatsu-back care, Shiatsu-pain relief, Shiatsu-stress reduction, trust in touch, and basic watsu.
Quick Facts
School of Shiatsu and Massage's classes are held in workshop facilities at the Harbin Hot Springs. The classroom facilities are the Meadow Building, Mountain Lodge and the Conference Center. The pools for the water classes are at the conference center or the Harbin Domes. Harbin Hot Springs is a beautiful retreat center on a 1,700-acre valley, two hours away from San Francisco.
Co-ed shared group housing is included in class fees. Private rooms are available by reservation at the Harbin Hot Springs, but the cost is not included in the course fee.
Students can participate in extracurricular activities of Kirtan (East Indian devotional chanting with live music and lovely energy), dance classes, movie nights, and yoga classes.
