Academy was established in
New York City in 2002 by Rob Principe, Reg E. Gaines, and the late Jam Master Jay. Scratch DJ Academy-Miami is centrally located in Miami Beach, Florida.
Scratch DJ Academy-Miami offers three levels of DJ courses. Course 101 is a beginner course for students with no experience on a set of turntables. Students are introduced to equipment and taught basic mixing, blending, and scratching techniques. Course 151 is for students who already know the basics but want improve their blending and mixing and learn new techniques. The 202 course is for students who want to learn how to scratch. Previous turntable experience is preferred but it is not required. Students begin with equipment basics and move on to basic to intermediate level scratching.
