As a comprehensive two-year institution of higher learning, Seattle Vocational Institute serves the community through its various vocational training programs and other educational offerings.

At this community college, students may choose to train for such health care careers as dental assistant, medical assistant, nursing assistant, and phlebotomist. Vocational training programs for fields of work like administrative office professional, network technician, and computer-based accounting are also available. In addition, Seattle Vocational Institute boasts the GED Academy, which aids students age 16 to 21 in earning their GED, and a Cosmetology program that prepares students to take the State Board of cosmetology Licensing Examination. After students have satisfactorily completed a training program and its requirements, they may choose to apply for an externship at an outside facility to receive hands-on training and experience.

Thanks to this Washington community college's Bright Future program, high school juniors and seniors may enroll in, and earn a certificate from, one of Seattle Vocational Institute's technical programs for free.
