Shawnee State University is a regional state university in southern Ohio. Located in Portsmouth on the banks of the Ohio River, this Ohio University sits on 52 acres of land and houses an impressive planetarium inside the Advanced Technology Center. This planetarium is only one of the 50 Digistar II planetariums in the entire world.

Founded in 1986, Shawnee State University is one of the newest four-year institutions in the state of Ohio. It prepares its students to succeed in the marketplace. The Ohio university is devoted to providing an education that promotes competence in its students' communication, reasoning and thinking skills.

Shawnee State University enrolls more than 3,500 students and offers over 80 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in diverse areas of study, including the arts, business administration, humanities, mathematics, the natural and social sciences, teacher education, and health sciences.
