Therapeutic Massage was founded by Neva Clayton, M.A., Ed.S., CMT, in 2003. The school's massage program gives students the skills and knowledge needed to be professional massage therapists. The holistic approach of the program teaches students to use their skills in a caring and appropriate manner.
Shenandoah Valley School of Therapeutic Massage's therapeutic massage program is a 610-hour program that prepares students for national certification and careers as massage therapists. Students study anatomy, physiology, pathologies of the human body, assessment, mastery of massage techniques, correct body mechanics, ethical and emotional boundaries,
business practices, health issues, and self-care. Students also work hands-on with clients, friends and family to experience different body types, health issues, and levels of tension.

Full- time classes meet twice a week from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and part-time classes meet three times a week from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. During the third term, class hours change and there may also be required workshops during the program.
Shenandoah Valley School of Therapeutic Massage offers continuing education workshops, which include hot stone, lymphatic massage, energy medicine, and anatomy training.
Admission to the school requires students to be 18 years of age or older, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and be able to physically perform and receive massage therapy.
