Siena Heights University was originally called St. Joseph's College for Women. It was renamed Siena Heights College in 1939. In 1998, the Michigan university was given its current name, Siena Heights University.
In 1975, Sienna Heights University started its first degree competition program for working adults. Today, there are eight degree-completion centers in Michigan: Ann Arbor, Battle Creek, Benton Harbor, Jackson, Lansing, Detroit, Monroe, and Port Huron.
