Simmons is a women's liberal arts college, more than a century old, located in one of the biggest college towns in the country - Boston. Simmons is a typical New England feeling campus located in the Fenway district of Boston, within walking distance of 15 other college campuses. The campus provides a small community feeling with the benefits of being in the heart of a large city.

Ranked as one of the nation's best colleges by U.S. News and World Report for Master-level programs in the United States, Simmons College is no stranger to top rankings. The Princeton Review has also named the school as one of the best 366 in the United States, a designation held by only 15 percent of the four-year schools in the country. The 2008 Kaplan Guidebook also listed Simmons College as 1 of 25 cutting edge schools.

Simmons College enrolls more than 1,800 students per year in one of its more than 50 undergraduate degree, minor and certificate programs. The Graduate School is open to both men and women, with the exception of the MBA program, which is geared for women only. There are five graduate schools at Simmons College: College of arts and sciences Graduate Studies, Graduate School of Library and Information Science, School for Health Studies, School of Management and the School of Social Work. More than 2,800 students are enrolled each year in the graduate degree programs.

Students at Simmons College may live in one of the nine residence halls on campus. However, there are also plenty of off-campus opportunities as well.

  • Simmons College is part of the NCAA Division III and offers eight varsity intercollegiate sports teams: basketball, softball, crew, swimming and diving, field hockey, tennis, soccer and volleyball.

  • The 60,000-square-foot William J. Holmes Fitness and Sports Center offers students an opportunity to watch their teams participate in sports, but also the opportunity to maintain their physical fitness through swimming, running, playing on hardwood courts or working out on fitness equipment.
