Simpson University is a private, evangelical
liberal arts college located in Redding, California. Originally founded by W.W. Newberry in Seattle in 1921 as the Simpson Bible Institute, the college was established to promote spiritual growth and prepare students for a life of serving Jesus Christ, especially while on missionary trips in foreign countries.
By 1955, the school was granting Bachelor's degrees and the Simpson Bible Institute was moved to San Francisco and changed its name to Simpson
Bible College. In 1989, the school once again moved and began building a new campus at its current location in Redding.
Students who attend Simpson University must first pass one requirement - they must have a passion and commitment to serving Jesus Christ and they must have the desire to participate in a college community of like-minded people. Students at Simpson University come from more than 30 evangelical denominations, but the majority are members of The
Christian and Missionary Alliance. Graduates from Simpson University go into a variety of ministerial and lay professions.
Simpson University offers more than 25 Bachelor's degree programs, as well as four graduate degree programs in various areas of ministry: master of divinity, M.A. in Christian leadership, M.A. in Christian studies, M.A. in intercultural studies. The university also offers three
certificate programs: spiritual formation, intercultural studies, and Biblical and theological studies. The School of Education offers additional master and credential programs.
Students may also choose to study in other parts of the
United States in Washington D.C. or Los Angeles or in one of the study abroad programs in Australia, China, Latin America, Middle East, Uganda or Great Britain (Oxford). If students do not want to study abroad, they can also choose to go on a summer mission trip.

Simpson University is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
Simpson University participates in the NAIA and the NCCAA. Intercollegiate sports teams include women's volleyball and men's and women's basketball, cross-country, soccer and golf.
The mascot: Red Hawks.
Students at Simpson University come from all over the United States, as well as many countries, which include: Canada, Germany, Cote d' Ivoire, Ecuador, Korea, the Philippines, and Mexico.
Simpson University school motto: "Gateway to World Service." While the motto intended to inspire missionaries who would embark on foreign service after completing their education, Simpson University feels the motto serves contemporary students who are embarking on any journey to spread the gospel.
