Skagit Valley community college is designed for all types of students, not just those seeking a degree. In addition to offering associate degree programs, the school also offers certificate, non-credit adult education courses, and business development workshops. Students who can't tackle a traditional college schedule have the option of entering the virtual classroom. Skagit offers online and distance education courses that can be taken on your own time. On the liberal arts side, Skagit Valley Community College offers associate degree programs in a wide range of science and arts-related fields.

Whether you're looking to hone your theatrical, mathematical, or analytical skills, this is the place to do it. On the technical side, Skagit also offers professional degree programs in areas such as welding, mechatronics, and geographic information systems. Thanks to partnerships with the Northwest Center of Excellence for Marine Manufacturing and Technology, Skagit boasts a particularly strong Marine Maintenance Technology program. Splitting their time between in-class learning and hands-on training, Marine Maintenance Technology students are provided with part-time work in their field while they study.

No matter what program of study you're pursuing, all Skagit Valley Community College students have the opportunity to earn a L.E.A.D. certificate in addition to their diploma. Designed as a transcript of your athletic, extra curricular, and volunteer activities, L.E.A.D. certificates provide documentation of your leadership and involvement on campus outside the classroom.

A member of the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges, Skagit Valley Community College boasts eight men's and women's varsity athletic teams. Fitness-minded students also have access to on-campus weight rooms, gymnasiums, tennis courts, jogging trails, and sports fields. When the sun goes down, Skagit offers students a wide array of arts and cultural activities included campus-sponsored movie nights, trips, volunteer opportunities, and artistic presentations. Skagit also hosts 25 student-led organizations including a campus newspaper, radio station, and literary society.

Students who need an extra boost preparing for college will find the help they need at Skagit Valley Community College. The school offers GED and English as a Second Language prep courses as well as remedial courses in English, writing, and math. The school also offers U.S. Citizenship preparation classes and workplace safety workshops.

  • This year, Skagit Valley Community College hosted the 2007 Artsphere art and communication celebration, a community-wide exhibition that gives high school students as well as Skagit students and faculty the opportunity to exhibit their artistic creations.

  • All Skagit Valley Community College students who earn an Associate in Technical Arts Degree are required to complete at least one cooperative education experience before they graduate.

  • You don't have to be an adult to get a Skagit Valley Community College education. High school juniors and seniors with a 2.25 GPA may apply for the school's Running Start program and begin earning college credits before graduating high school.
