South Carolina Massage and
Esthetics Institute is a post-secondary vocational school that offers comprehensive programs in
massage therapy and esthetics.
The
massage therapy program at the South Carolina Massage and Esthetics Institute is a 600-hour course which can take from six months up to a year to complete, depending on whether the students choose to attend full-time or part-time. The student-teacher ratio is no more than 24:1 for lectures and 21:1 for hands-on instruction.
The esthetics program at the South Carolina Massage and Esthetics Institute is a 450-hour course that takes from five to seven months to complete. The student to teacher ratio is 16:1 for lectures and 8:1 for hands-on instruction.
Upon graduation, students will be eligible to take the National Certification Exam For
Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, the National Certification Exam For Therapeutic Massage or the Massage and Bodywork Licensure Examination.
The South Carolina Massage and Esthetics Institute also offers continuing education courses on a number of topics, including basic Thai massage, reflexology and pregnancy massage.
