Founded in 1960, Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College is a public, comprehensive community and technical college under the governance of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS). The College serves the KCTCS Southeast district and provides an Associate in Art and Associate in Science degree programs and courses designed to prepare individuals to succeed in baccalaureate programs at senior colleges and universities. The Kentucky school also offers an Associate in Applied Science degree programs, certificate programs, diploma programs, and courses designed to prepare individuals to succeed in today's technological workforce.

Continuing education, training activities and services designed to expand life skills and knowledge of our citizens, strengthen the existing workforce, and enhance community and business development at Southeast Kentucky community college. Academic support and developmental education courses and experiences are designed to prepare individuals for success in transfer, technical, and continuing education programs and courses. Resources at Southeast Kentucky Community College promote the preservation of the Appalachian culture by stimulating artistic expression, serving as a depository for the region's history and cultural traditions, providing a forum for the arts through cross-cultural experiences, and promoting the arts in education.

Southeast Kentucky Community College admits students who have graduated from high school; who have earned a high school general equivalency diploma (GED); or who are eligible to pursue a GED.

With campuses in Cumberland, Harlan, Middlesboro, Pineville and Whitesburg, the Kentucky school is able to offer a variety of student activities that accommodate each campuses student population.

Courses taken as a non-degree student will not, in itself, qualify a person for admission as a degree candidate. Non-degree students may become degree students after meeting regular admission requirements.
