Southwestern Oregon Community College

1988 Newmark Ave.
Coos Bay, OR 97420

Formed in May of 1961, Southwestern Oregon community college has grown from a student body of 266 to an annual enrollment of almost 14,500. Despite this, the school is able to keep an average class size of 25-30 students. Even with the increase in faculty -- from 26 instructors in 1961 to well over 300, currently -- this Oregon college has managed to maintain a high quality of education. In fact, all tenured and tenure-track faculty members have attained a master's degree or Ph.D. in their respective fields of study.

Today, Southwestern Oregon Community College offers associate degree programs to students in a number of fields. From an Associate of Science degree in athletic training, engineering, criminal justice, or mathematics, to an Associate of Applied Science in accounting, office management, baking and pastry, or medical assisting, this Oregon college has plenty to offer most any student.

There are even Certificate of Completion programs available that require one-year -- or less -- of study. The certificate programs train students in fields and occupations ranging from medical transcription, computer technology, and juvenile corrections, to Pharmacy Technician, emergency medical technician, and educational assistant.
