Spa Trainers Institute of Aesthetics

Saskatchewan, Canada

Spa Trainers Institute of Aesthetics is a Canadian based distance learning spa school. Spa Trainers Institute of Aesthetics was founded by Sharmaine Nelson, a CIDESCO trained aesthetician with over 18 years experience. In addition to being an experienced aesthetician, Nelson owned her own spa for over a decade.

Students who sign up for courses through Spa Trainers Institute of Aesthetics can learn online from anywhere - on their own schedule. Students learn through a variety of techniques including online message boards; quizzes and web-based field trips wherein students visit spas in their areas and take notes and share them with their classmates. Over 50 percent of the program is dedicated to practical application, including an apprenticeship, which must be completed at a clinic near the student's home.

Students may apply for a variety of the 1,200-hour aesthetics programs. The Aesthetics Diploma Training Course is a 9-month training program (including internship at Just for You Day Spa or a spa located close to the student's home). This program is designed for the beginning students seeking a professional career in aesthetics. The Theory of Aesthetics Diploma Training Course is a refresher course, or for anyone wanting to know about aesthetics without completing the internship. The Nail Technology Training Course provides training in nail technology and is a pre-requisite for students wishing to earn a diploma in the Aesthetics program.

Spa Trainers Institute of Aesthetics also offers Milady's Theory and Practice of Therapeutic Massage for students wishing a comprehensive knowledge of massage therapy. By the end of the course, students should be able to practice a complete professional body massage.

Students who complete one or more programs at Spa Trainers Institute of Aesthetics will be STIA certified. Students who enroll at Spa Trainers Institute of Aesthetics wish to practice one or more of the following spa disciplines: aesthetician, manicurist, pedicurist, nail technician, salon/spa management.
