Spalding University is a private,
liberal arts school located in Louisville, Kentucky. Founded in 1814, this
Kentucky School is the oldest
Catholic College west of the
Allegheny Mountains. The core of Spalding University's expansive campus is located at the historic Tompkins-Buchanan-Rankin mansion.
Accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools since 1938, the
Kentucky school offers bachelor's, master's, and specialist degrees, plus doctoral degrees in psychology and education. Spalding University strives to offer part-time students extensive study programs and opened the first Weekend College in the area in 1980 as a resource for working adults. The Kentucky school added the Accelerated Evening Program in 1998.
In 2003, Spalding University moved from a typical fifteen-week semester to a six-week session format. Students begin their studies at any time during the academic year and undertake one or two classes at a time. The Kentucky school offers seven six-week sessions per year, with a week long break between each session.
Spalding University has four colleges of study for undergraduates: The College of
business and Communication, the College of Education, the College of Health and Natural Science, and the College of Social Sciences and Humanities. Past graduates from the Kentucky school have gone on to work for businesses like Ford Motor Company, UPS, Brown-Forman and YUM! Brands.
