Ranked as one of the top 15 colleges in the South by U.S. News and World Report, Spring Hill College is a private liberal arts Catholic Jesuit school located in Mobile, Alabama. Founded in 1830 as an all men's school by the first bishop of Mobile, Michael Porter, Spring Hill College is the oldest college in the South and the third oldest Jesuit college in the country.

The college survived during the Civil War, but students were temporarily relocated in 1869 when a fire destroyed the main building. In 1935, the high school that operated separately on campus was closed. The college underwent many changes after World War II, thanks to returning veterans who wanted to continue their education on the G.I. Bill. During the Civil Rights era in the 1950s, the school began admitting both women and blacks.

Today, Spring Hill College offers undergraduate programs in the following areas: business, communication/arts, international studies, interdivisional studies, language and literature, nursing, philosophy and theology, political science, sciences, social sciences, teacher education. Spring Hill College's academic standards are high and a high percentage of students who graduate from Spring Hill College are accepted to graduate programs or find jobs in their fields.

Students also have a choice of graduate programs, which include business, education, liberal arts, nursing, and theological studies.

Known as The Hill, the Mobile campus is situated in a park-like setting. More than 80 percent of Spring Hill College's students live on campus at one of 8 residence halls. Spring Hill College also offers off-campus studies in Atlanta, Birmingham and Jackson.
