The Springs Bath House School of
massage therapy seeks to train people who are pursuing a career in massage therapy. The school teaches students anatomy, physiology, pathologies, specific injuries, Swedish, deep tissue massage and
business management & ethics. Students may also be exposed to neuromuscular, watsu, hot stone, sports, energy work, reflexology, shiatsu and chair massage. The Springs Bath House
school of massage therapy also shows students specialty services they provide their own clients such as the mango salt glow, seaweed body masque, and even teach you how to give an aloe-herbal body wrap.
The basic program consists of 650-hours of study, which spans a traditional school year from September - May. Part of the hands-on instruction includes giving at least two hours of massage therapy each week, as well as receiving two hours each week from a fellow student. During the last 10 weeks of the program, students enroll in an advanced class of neuromuscular therapy, which is a modality of massage therapy that allows therapists to treat trigger points causing chronic pain. Students seeking certification in this modality will continue with 50 hours of study after graduating from the basic program.

Hot Springs, South Dakota was founded on the healing powers of the springs. However, with modern medicine, the bathhouses closed after World War II. The Springs Bath House was the first bathhouse to once again use the springs in more than 60 years.
