Community College as the Vancouver
business Institute in 1903. Sprott and James Beatty later founded the Sprott-Shaw College in Victoria in 1913 as part of the
business plan for the Vancouver Business Institute. The location in Victoria has been in continuous operation since its founding. The curriculum has expanded since those early days to include much more than office training.
The Sprott-Shaw Community College now has 20 locations that offer both diploma, certificate and degree programs. Diploma and certificate programs include business study in administrative assistant; administrative assistant/legal secretary; administrative assistant/medical office assistant; advance business management and e-commerce; business administration; business office concepts; legal secretary; marketing and sales essentials; medical office assistant; payroll administrator; professional business management; tourism/hospitality management; tourism hospitality management and computer applications. The Sprott-Shaw Community College also offers diploma and certificate programs in many programs of health sciences and social development; trades and applied technology; and international studies. The Sprott-Shaw Community College also offers several degree programs in: business administration; pre-master of business administration and an advanced diploma in business administration.
Prospective Canadian students must proof of graduation from a British Columbia secondary school that shows at least a C+ or higher, including in English and transcripts showing these requirements; a completed application; or proof of a
high school equivalency program. Students from the United States must have graduated from an academic or college-prep program and 4 years of English, three years of math with 75%. graduate from an academic or college-prep program and 4 years of English, three years of math with 75%. All other international students must possess International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma. Calculated on 3 higher and 3 standard level including English and math. Students who do not meet these requirements may apply to the Sprott-Shaw Community College for conditional admittance. The school frequently starts new terms and the four term block system means less time to complete a program.
