St. Ambrose University is a private, Catholic school located in
Davenport, Iowa. In 1882, the Rev. John McMullen founded the Iowa school, which was initially a
seminary and school of commerce for men. St. Ambrose University became coeducational in 1968, and has been organized into the Colleges of
business, Human Services, and Arts and Sciences since 1987.
St. Ambrose University offers students more than 75 undergraduate programs, more than 10 graduate programs, and doctoral programs in
business administration and physical therapy. All degrees are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The Iowa school strives to maintain its Catholic identity, and St. Ambrose University places a value on integrity,
liberal arts, life-long learning and diversity.
The Galvin Fine Arts Center at St. Ambrose University is a venue for visual and performing arts, and helps the Iowa school maintain its commitment to
liberal arts. Each year, a performing arts series brings performers to the 1,200 seat Allaert Auditorium at St. Ambrose University. Past performances have included Eileen Ivers, Dave Holland and Hubbard Street Dance. Students also use the main stage to present musical and theater performances, and showcase their artwork in the Catich Gallery exhibit space.
