St. Mary's seminary & University is located at Roland Park in Baltimore, Maryland and was founded in 1791 as the first Catholic seminary in the
United States. A community of diocesan priests named the Sulpician Fathers has owned the Maryland seminary for more than 200 years. St. Mary's Seminary & University sits on a 40-acre campus next to woodlands in a natural setting.

In 1968, St. Mary's Seminary & University established the Ecumenical Institute of Theology as a response to the Second Vatican Council. The institute is a night school program with unique offerings for Roman Catholic lay ministers. Campus facilities at St. Mary's Seminary & University include the Center for Continuing Formation, a 30,000 square-foot building with 30 private rooms and various conference spaces. The Associated Archives building houses records of the Maryland seminary, the Society of Saint Sulpice and the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
