Known as "the
Jesuit College of New Jersey," St. Peter's College is a Catholic, co-educational college with its main 25-acre campus located in Jersey City. There is also a satellite campus for working adults located in Englewood Cliffs.
Still the only Jesuit college in New Jersey, St. Peter's College was established as a school for men in 1872, the school closed in 1917 due to the beginning of World War I. St. Peter's College didn't reopen until 1930. St. Peter's College has been at its present urban located since 1936. Women were admitted to the college in 1966. Due to its proximity to the urban and working class areas of Jersey City, St. Peter's College has a widely diverse student body with more than 60 percent of the student population being of a racial minority. Many of its graduates are first generation college students.
More than 3,000 students enroll at St. Peter's College. They come from all over the
United States, as well as more than 60 countries. St. Peter's College offers Associate, Bachelor's and Master's degree programs through the College of Arts and Sciences/School of
business Administration. For students who need weekend or evening classes to accommodate family and work lives, the School of Professional Studies assists students in degree completion. Four Master's degrees are offered through St. Peter's College: Education,
business Administration, Accountancy and
nursing.
Students may choose to live on campus in one of the seven dorm style or apartment buildings on campus. The newest facility, Millennium Hall, was built in 2001. The Edward and Theresa O'Toole Library has more than 50,000 square foot of space to accommodate more than 260,000 printed volumes of books and 750 periodicals. The Englewood campus library has more than 30,000 of space and both libraries have access to more than 10.000 periodicals
online.

Helping students maintain physical fitness at St. Peter's College is important. The 125,000 square foot Yanitelli Recreational Life Center offers students tennis and racquetball courts, indoor golf practice course, swimming pool, fitness center, weight room, game room and three gymnasiums.
St. Peter's College's intramural sports teams include: baseball, basketball, volleyball, bowling, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis and volleyball.
