Xavier University is a Chicago based
Catholic College with a campus also located in Orland Park, Ill. St. Xavier University is one of 18 colleges across the nation sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy. Founded in 1846, the
liberal arts college provides co-educational learning.
St. Xavier University provides an education to over 5,700 students per year seeking undergraduate and graduate degrees at one of the five schools at the college. The schools are College of Arts and Sciences, School of Education, Graham School of Management, School of
nursing and School of Continuing and Professional Students. Students may choose a program in one of the more than 30 undergraduate majors and over 25 graduate majors.
St. Xavier University points out that more than 90 percent of a student's college life is spent outside the classroom and they encourage students to live and become involved in campus activities. Students may choose to live at one of the five residences on campus, which include McCarthy, Morris, Pacelli, Regina or Robluff Halls. More than 800 students live on campus.
The Byrne Memorial Library on campus provides an environment for students to research and study. The library has a large collection of printed books and periodicals, as well as access to
online and electronic resources.
Students who wish to study abroad for a semester or a year, can apply to do so through the Center for International Studies at the university. Students may choose to study in one of the following countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Costa Rica, Great Britain, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, India, Morocco, Russia, Scotland, South Africa, Spain, or even choose to study for a semester at sea.

St. Xavier University participates in the NAIA and CCAC. They offer men's football, baseball; women's volleyball and softball as well as men's and women's basketball, cross country/track and soccer.
The Shannon Center, an 85,000 square foot arena, fitness center and meeting facility on the St. Xavier campus will seat over 3,200 for sporting events, concerts and special events. The center also includes a fitness center, racquetball courts, indoor track and gymnasium.
