Sterling College is a private,
Christian faith-based college located in Sterling, Kansas. Established in 1887 as Cooper Memorial College by the Presbyterian Church, Sterling College still has deep roots in faith-based education. In the 19th century, the college relied on four basic courses for education:
liberal arts, a teaching degree, English courses for future school administrators and a
business course. These same basic courses of study have continued with Sterling College into the 21st century.
Sterling College offers the following Bachelor's degree programs: Art &
Graphic Design, behavioral science, biology, chemistry, communications/theatre arts, computer science, education, exercise science, history and government, language and literature, mathematics, music, physics, religion and philosophy. The
business program at Sterling College also has the nation's first degree program in social entrepreneurship. The social entrepreneurship program is based in historic Cooper Hall, the first building constructed on campus. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, as well as the Presbyterian/Reformed Historical Sites Registry, the building was especially renovated for this 21st-century initiative.
At the heart of each program is bringing in faith-based philosophy into real life situations. Sterling College has unique partnerships with such programs as Habitat for Humanity to give students hands on experience in community service. As well, chapel is required for each student at least once a week.
Sterling College offers students a number of on-campus housing options. Men's halls include Campbell, Kilbourn and Y Halls. Women's halls include: Evans, McCreery and X Halls. Each residence room have phone hook ups, optional voice mail systems and campus Intranet.
The Mabee Library on the Sterling College campus has access to over 50 Biblical databases. The library is also home to the Crebbs Museum, which displays a number of Native American artifacts, as well as a collection on local history.
For students interested in a global perspective in history, art or languages, students can apply to study abroad in China, Russia, Latin America or the Middle East.

Intramural sports are a big part of campus life at Sterling College. Intramural sports include sand volleyball, flag football, basketball, Frisbee, softball and soccer.
