Located 52 miles west of Birmingham, Stillman College is situated on a 105-acre campus in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Founded in 1876 as the Stillman Institute by the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church as a training ground for black ministers, the college was named for its founder, Charles Allen Stillman. The school moved to its present campus in 1895 and before awarding Bachelor's degrees in the middle the 20th century, had established a senior high school and community college program.

Stillman College now offers Bachelor's degrees and pre-professional programs to more than 1,200 students per year. The schools at Stillman College are: Arts and Sciences, business and Education. The Teacher Education Program at Stillman College helps prepare students for the state certification test. Students who qualify can apply for the Harte Honors College at Stillman College. Minimum requirements for the Honors College include a GPA of no less than an A-, SAT score of 1150 or ACT of 25. Students must also have demonstrated successes in the arts, sciences and strong leadership qualities. Great Opportunities for Adult Learners at Stillman (G.O.A.L.S.) offers a night school program for working adults.

The campus is known for it magnificent magnolia trees, as well as the blend of historic buildings and newer architecture. The William H. Sheppard Library is home to more than 110,000 printed volumes of book, periodicals and online databases. Students have access to more than 400 periodical subscriptions, as well as special collections such as the Martha L. O'Rourke African American Collection.

Students may live on campus in one of the three residence halls. Student life on campus offers easy access to shopping and cultural events off campus in Tuscaloosa, as well as many activities and organizations on campus. The Stillman Stadium Complex seats 9,000 and is home to the college's football, baseball, track and field and softball events. The Birthright Auditorium and Athletic Center has a swimming pool, basketball courts for intercollegiate sporting events, as well as a theatre and auditorium for plays, concerts and other cultural performances.
