Sullivan University, located in Louisville, Kentucky, was originally founded in 1962 as a year long school of business by A. O. Sullivan and his son, A. R. Sullivan. The private career college is the largest in the state and provides its students with a stair-step curricular progression along with employment assistance for its graduates. In 1982, Sullivan University expanded when it opened an extension campus on the Ft. Knox military base. Then in 1985, the Kentucky School opened a branch campus in Lexington, Kentucky.

In the past decade, Sullivan University expanded its campus facilities with a new multimillion-dollar building for classes and labs, while adding 400 parking spaces to its west campus. The Kentucky school has also been working to create a global presence, establishing Sullivan University EurAsia with the European Union and universities in India. Sullivan University also plans to expand its academic offerings with the addition of a doctoral pharmacy program to address the country's growing shortage of pharmacists.

Sullivan University offers its students a varied range of majors, including degrees in travel and tourism, accounting and pharmacy. The Kentucky School is also home to the National Center for Hospitality Studies and offers courses to train paralegals, law enforcement officers, medical assistants and professional nannies. Degrees given by Sullivan University are accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
