The State University of New York at Oneonta is located in Oneonta, New York. The

SUNY is the largest university system in the United States. Originally established in 1889 as one of the state's "normal" schools, so named for a teaching method that originated in France, the State University of New York at Oneonta was at first a teaching college.
Today, More than 5,800 students attend the State University of New York at Oneonta each year and they have the choice of more than 40 Bachelor's Degree programs.
Consistently among the rankings of top colleges by
U.S. News and World Report, the State University of New York at Oneonta was named 57th in the publication's listings of master's programs in the north and offers five Master's Degree programs. Additionally, students may also earn either a post Bachelor's degree or post Master's Degree certificate in education.
Students may choose to live on the 250-acre campus in one of the Oneonta's 15 residence halls. Students who live on campus have immediate access to all of the campus amenities, including the James L. Milne Library, which contains more than 550,000 printed volumes, making it the library in the
SUNY system with the second largest collection. In addition to having access to the more than 30 facilities on campus, the Biological Field Station and Cooperstown Graduate Program in Museum studies is just two miles from the main Oneonta campus.
