Texarkana is a public school located in Texarkana, Texas for junior, senior, and graduate students, and was established in 1971 by the Texas legislature. The upper level
Texas School became a member of the
Texas A&M University system in 1996 and is now governed by the Texas A&M University Board of Regents.
The
Texarkana College of Arts & Sciences and Education is the largest college at the Texas school and includes nine undergraduate and nine graduate degrees. Texarkana has plans to add a bachelor's degree in political science. The
business college at the Texas school offers students several undergraduate programs, including degrees in accounting, human resource management, management information systems and marketing.
The Texarkana College of Health and Behavioral Sciences offers programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels, plus prepares students to receive credentialing as licensed professional counselors or psychological associates. Texarkana also has a department of computer and information sciences, which awards a bachelor's degree to students.
In addition to its academic offerings, Texarkana provides its students with various official organizations. Options at the Texas school include accounting, computer, and history clubs, as well as the sociology society. In the near future, Texarkana plans to expand student enrollment to 2,800, increase overall state funding, and obtain and maintain national accreditation in business, education,
engineering,
nursing and counseling.
