The Texas Association of Community Colleges (TACC) is a non-profit association that includes all 50 public community college districts in the state. The General Appropriations Bill and legislation affecting public community colleges in general have been and remain the principal concerns of TACC.
The
Texas community college education Initiative (TCCEI) is a non-profit corporation created in 2003 to promote educational programs and services that benefit Texas higher education. There are currently five TCCEI initiatives: Nelson Award, Achieving the Dream, Early College
high school, STARLINK, and the Virtual College of Texas.
As a service to
Texas community colleges, and in conjunction with the Texas Association of Community College Human Resource Professionals, TACC provides an
online job bank listing employment opporunities throughout Texas.
Quick Facts:
The Nelson Award is one of TCCEI's initiatives, providing a scholarship to proven student leaders in honor of the school's late president, Carl "Cheesie" Nelson.
Another initiative is Achieving the Dream a program concerned about student groups that have faced the most significant barriers to success, including low-income students and students of color. The initiative includes 14 national partner organizations, 82 community colleges in 15 states and many dedicated individuals.
TCCEI always works with The Virtual College of Texas -- a consortium of all accredited, public Texas community and technical colleges. It includes the 50 community college districts and the four colleges of the Texas State Technical College system. There have been more than 34,000 course enrollments through VCT since it became operational in 1998.
