The City University of New York (CUNY)
445 West 59 Street
New York City, NY 10019
From its beginning as only one school, The
City College, the
City University of New York (
CUNY) college system, has grown into an institution of higher learning that's dedicated to providing community members with a quality education and the opportunities they need to excel.
CUNY is able to serve over 400,000 students a year, thanks to the 23 New York City colleges that comprise it. Located throughout the five boroughs of New York City -- Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island -- these schools are all devoted to the tradition of higher learning and academic achievement. And unlike some college systems that feature only one kind of institution (e.g. community colleges), CUNY consists of 11 senior colleges, six community colleges, an honors college, a school of professional studies, a
Graduate School of Journalism, a school of law, a graduate school and university center, and a school of biomedical education.
Because of the many schools that comprise CUNY, this college system is able to offer a staggering 1,400 academic programs, over 200 different undergraduate majors, and more than a hundred different majors for graduate students.
